Aftercare

Your massage experience doesn’t end when you leave the treatment room — the benefits continue to unfold as your body begins to restore and rebalance. To help you get the most from your session, here are some gentle aftercare tips and insights.

What to Expect

It’s completely normal to feel a little different after your massage. You may experience what’s known as a Healing Crisis — the body’s natural response to deep relaxation and increased circulation. This is a sign that your body is adjusting and releasing stored tension.

Common symptoms may include:

  • Mild aches or soreness
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Chills or sweating
  • Nausea

You may also notice Erythema, a temporary redness of the skin caused by increased blood flow to the areas massaged. This is perfectly normal and usually fades quickly.

If any symptoms persist beyond 48 hours, it’s advisable to consult your GP.

Aftercare Tips

To support your body’s healing and maximise the benefits of your massage:

  • Hydrate well — drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours.
  • Take it easy — avoid strenuous activity or heavy exercise.
  • Shower before your massage, and try to avoid showering immediately afterwards to allow the therapeutic oils to fully absorb.
  • Eat light — steer clear of heavy meals before and after your treatment.
  • Skip perfumes, aftershave, and lotions prior to your massage to keep your skin clear for the oils.

Emotional Release

Massage can stir emotions, especially when tension is held in the body for long periods. Feeling emotional afterwards is completely natural — allow yourself the space to process and embrace whatever comes up.

This is your time to nurture yourself. Be gentle, be kind, and let your body do what it does best: heal.
